What is arthritis?

Arthritis is a regressive medical condition that involves the loss of cartilage in your pet’s joints. When the cartilage thins, it leads to their bones rubbing together. As you can imagine, this causes intense pain for your pet when they move. This may discourage them from exercising and lead them to gain weight, which will worsen their condition.

How do I know if my pet has arthritis?

Observe your pet’s movements when they play, jump or go up or down the stairs. If you notice they’re uncomfortable performing these actions or resistant to being touched, it’s likely they’re experiencing inflammation in their joints and should be immediately seen by a veterinarian. Through X-rays and thorough body checks we’ll be able to detect the location of their arthritis and discuss how to move forward. The earlier you detect the signs of your pet having arthritis, the sooner we can provide a treatment plan that will reduce their pain.
