Rehabilitation Stories - Part 6

We have been taking our Lab, Cash, to Hillside Vet since May 2013. With a failed ACL and torn meniscus, he was being prepped for a total knee replacement. Our initial consultation there was very thorough and the ensuing exercise program was described to us in great detail. We embarked on a series of laser treatments and water treadmill sessions to build up the muscle in his leg. Our rehab techs Rhea and Trina were – and continue to be – extremely helpful and patient with Cash, who as a boisterous, hyperactive 80 lb dog can sometimes be challenging during the sessions. They really know how to treat Cash and we would adapt the sessions according to how Cash reacted.

After Cash’s knee replacement on July 2 we have resumed weekly physiotherapy at Hillside. As Cash is their first knee replacement patient, Trina went out of her way to do some research on the surgery and recovery period, so we could adapt his program accordingly. She is also in touch with the surgeon in Calgary to ensure all of the protocols are followed.

We are very impressed with the care and attention to detail with Cash’s treatment and know that Cash is getting the very best care as he adapts to his new knee.
